A route through the apple orchards of Ponte in Valtellina, with an excursion towards the locality of Pelegata, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view over the village and the surrounding orchards.
Return to Ponte passing through the hamlet of Berola, with the option to stop at the Osteria del Sole.
Walk through the spectacle of apple trees in bloom. With the arrival of spring, Valtellina comes into flower. The delicate white of apple blossoms alternates with the green of the leaves, creating a landscape that stretches as far as the eye can see, from the middle of the valley up to the higher areas.
To fully enjoy this spectacle — which faithfully repeats itself every year when temperatures become mild and the sky turns an intense blue — there is the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori, an easy mid-slope route to be explored on foot.
Along the way, in addition to vines and a few olive trees, you will encounter the different varieties of apple trees: Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Gala, Fuji, Morgenduft and Granny Smith. A symbol of the province’s farming tradition, apple cultivation dominates the alluvial cones up to 900 metres in altitude, in the municipalities of Ponte in Valtellina and Bianzone, as well as the nearby areas of Villa di Tirano, Sernio and Lovero.
