Today, we collect milk from 29 farms, all certified for animal welfare and characterised by non-intensive farming practices. The farms are located between Sondrio and Bormio, within a radius of approximately 30 kilometres from the dairy; this proximity is crucial, as it allows us to process the milk within just a few hours of milking.
We have always been committed to enhancing the work of our members who are actively involved in the operation of the dairy, not only by guaranteeing fair and appropriate remuneration for the raw material, but also by recognising their contribution to the quality of life of everyone. Their presence and work keep a real economy alive in the mountain villages of Valtellina and represent a cornerstone of the sustainability of our products.
At Latteria di Chiuro, today’s production never loses sight of the past and of tradition, while making use of the most up-to-date tools to guarantee the highest quality and food safety of every product. This is why integrated management and control systems are employed, supported by next-generation technologies. Quality is further ensured by the voluntary certifications obtained and renewed over the years: supply chain traceability (UNI ISO 22005:2008), organic certification and IFS Food, as well as the quality marks Latte Fresco Valtellina and Valtellina Qualità. Latteria di Chiuro is a member of the Consorzio per la Tutela dei formaggi Valtellina Casera e Bitto and a visionary member of HonestFood.
Our values find full expression in transparent and verifiable governance. For this reason, we have adopted a Code of Ethics and are committed to ensuring that every operation is correctly recorded, authorised, verifiable and legitimate. An organisation like ours, based on the work of members and collaborators and on the enhancement of the territory, necessarily places the utmost attention on people. We believe that the essential factor for our growth and success lies in our collaborators; for this reason, we enhance human resource skills by offering appropriate tools for professional development. We believe that sharing is a fundamental tool for strengthening a sense of belonging and for attracting and retaining talent within the company.
Over the years, our commitment has led us to innovate both our products and the way we present them to consumers, with the aim of responding to their tastes and to emerging market needs. We anticipated the times and were the first dairy cooperative to produce and distribute fresh drinking milk in Valtellina. We continue to do so by pursuing sustainable growth, adapting to market developments and maintaining a solid competitive position through a strategy of targeted investments. In 2010, we introduced a complete organic line including yogurt and soft and semi-hard cheeses. In 2020, we launched our first spoon dessert, Panna Ghiotta. Since 2023, our range has also included a lactose-free yogurt line, alongside the conventional, organic, reduced-fat and goat’s milk lines.
